26 November 1879 | Admiral Lord George Paulet, C.B., who died on Saturday at his house at Marlborongh-hill, in his 76th year, was a son of the late Marquis of Winchester, and entered the Navy in 1817. He served off the Portuguese coast during the civil war in 1832-3, and he was subsequently appointed to administer the government of the Sandwich Islands. When hostilities broke out between England and Russia Lord George hoisted his flag in the Bellerophon and took part in the attack on Sebastopol. On the restoration of peace he was appointed an aide-de-camp to the Queen. |
