17 September 1894Vice-Admiral Charles Fenton Fletcher Boughey, who died a few days ago at the age of 70, was the youngest son of the late Sir John Fenton Boughey, and entered the Navy in 1838. As lieutenant, in 1848, he commanded the Philomel's boats at the capture of a piratical slave felucca on the coast of Africa, and during the Russian war in the Crimea, while holding the same rank, served on board the Trafalgar. He was present at the bombardment of Sebastopol, and afterwards received the Crimean and Turkish medals, with the Sebastopol clasp. Vice-Admiral Boughey was places on the retired list in 1888.
