19 June 1852 - 1 June 1854 | Commanded by Captain Henry Wells Giffard, Mediterranean and Crimea (until he died). On 12 May 1854 Tiger grounded in fog off Odessa, and Giffard was forced to surrender the ship after being taken under fire from the land. He was seriously injured and his leg was removed while still on the ship, but he died of gangrene in captivity on 1 June. |
