9 October 1918 | DEATH OF VICE-ADMIRAL TWISS. Vice-Admiral Guy Ouchterlony Twiss, who died on Monday at the Cliff, Shanklin, in his 84th year. was educated at Launceston, Tasmania, and joined the Navy as a cadet in 1848, serving in the Channel, West Indies, and China. As a lieutenant he was at the taking of the Taku Forts, in H.M.S. Pique, and later on the Mediterranean Station. He was commander in the Warrior, and in the Eagle, drill ship. R.N.R. Admiral Twiss married in 1880, and had three sons and two daughters. |
