FOLEY. (Lieutenant, 1846.) The Honourable Fitzgerald Algernon Charles Foley, born 5 Sept. 1823, is youngest son of the late Lord Foley, by the fifth daughter of the second Duke of Leinster; brother of the present Lord Foley, of Lieut.-Col. Hon. Augustus Fred. Foley, of the Grenadier Guards, and of Capt. Hon. St. George Gerald Foley, of the 44th Regt.; and brother-in-law of Sir Chas. Rushout Cockerell, Bart.This officer passed his examination 29 April, 1843; and at the period of his promotion, which took place 15 Jan. 1846, was serving on board the Excellent gunnery-ship at Portsmouth, Capt. Henry Ducie Chads. Since 14 Feb. in the latter year he has been employed in the Raleigh 50, Capt. Sir Thos. Herbert, on the south-east coast of America. |
