1756 Born (Brandenburg).
November 1783 Employed by the Danish West India and Guinea Company as surgeon and botanist at Christiansborg, Gold Coast.
1786 Concluded treaty with Krobo tribe, Gold Coast for Denmark.
October 1786 Left the Coast when refused permission to travel inland at the invitation of the Asante king, Osei Kwame.
November 1788 Returned with his bride of seven months and started a plantation (Frederiksnopel in Akuapen), hoping to make the slave trade redundant by growing the same products raised in the West Indies.
21 January 1789 Died.
His wife died on 25 Feb. Their daughter, born on 17 Feb, survived her mother by only three weeks.
